This one needs an upload, and is deleted afterwards
Browsers cannot do this calculation, so the file goes to our server. It is deleted automatically 60 minutes after the job finishes, and the working copy lives in a memory filesystem that is wiped whenever the server restarts.
We do not log file names and do not log file contents — that is a hard rule in our engineering standards, not a setting.
What it does — and what it doesn't
Accuracy depends on the source. Run Remove scan grey first; clean white backgrounds recognise far better than grey ones.
Handwriting is not recognised. Decorative type, italics and patterned backgrounds all cause errors.
Layout is not preserved — columns, tables and captions come out as lines of text in reading order. Use PDF to Excel for tables.
Always proofread the result. No OCR is perfect.
Common questions
How do I improve accuracy?
Three things: scan at 300 DPI or better, clean the background first, and make sure the language is right — Traditional text read as Simplified goes badly wrong.
I want a searchable PDF, not a text file.
Use Searchable PDF — the file stays a PDF and gains an invisible text layer.
Is my file kept?
Deleted automatically after 60 minutes, and we log neither file names nor contents.
