This one needs an upload, and is deleted afterwards
Browsers cannot do this calculation, so the file goes to our server. It is deleted automatically 60 minutes after the job finishes, and the working copy lives in a memory filesystem that is wiped whenever the server restarts.
We do not log file names and do not log file contents — that is a hard rule in our engineering standards, not a setting.
What it does — and what it doesn't
CCITT G4 is black and white only, but an order of magnitude smaller — it is what fax and plain-text archiving use. Colour and greyscale originals are converted to black and white.
LZW and Deflate are lossless and support colour, at a larger size.
JPEG compression is smaller but lossy, and roughens the edges of letters.
TIFF has no text layer — after conversion nothing is searchable. Keep the PDF if you need that.
Common questions
They asked for a "single multi-page TIFF" — is this it?
Yes. This outputs the entire document as one file.
Which compression should I choose?
Whatever they specified. Otherwise: G4 for black-and-white text, LZW when there is colour.
Why did my colour document turn black and white?
G4 was selected. That format only has two colours, by specification.
