PDF background image

Lay an image behind the content on every page — letterhead, a company watermark sheet, ruled paper. (To put something on top instead, that is a watermark.)

How to do it

  1. Drop a PDF onto the page.
  2. Upload the background image and set how it tiles and how faint it is.
  3. Download.

This one needs an upload, and is deleted afterwards

Browsers cannot do this calculation, so the file goes to our server. It is deleted automatically 60 minutes after the job finishes, and the working copy lives in a memory filesystem that is wiped whenever the server restarts.

We do not log file names and do not log file contents — that is a hard rule in our engineering standards, not a setting.

What it does — and what it doesn't

Common questions

How is it different from a watermark?
Which side it is on. A background sits under the content and usually covers the page; a watermark sits on top and is usually a line of angled text.
Will the image be stretched?
You choose how it is placed — fill, fit, or tile.
How much bigger does the file get?
About the size of the image. Same-size pages share it, so page count does not multiply it.
