This one needs an upload, and is deleted afterwards
Browsers cannot do this calculation, so the file goes to our server. It is deleted automatically 60 minutes after the job finishes, and the working copy lives in a memory filesystem that is wiped whenever the server restarts.
We do not log file names and do not log file contents — that is a hard rule in our engineering standards, not a setting.
What it does — and what it doesn't
Only real text can be extracted. A scan is images — run OCR instead.
Columns are joined in reading order, but elaborate magazine layouts can still come out in the wrong sequence.
Tables become lines of text and the column alignment is lost. Use PDF to Excel for tables.
Headers and footers are mixed in with the body — the system does not guess which line is a page number.
Common questions
The result is empty.
It is probably a scan. Confirm with Word and page statistics, then run OCR.
Are paragraphs preserved?
Line breaks are. Which lines belong to the same paragraph is not recorded in a PDF at all, so it can only be guessed.
Why not just copy and paste?
This does the whole document at once and handles CJK line breaks. Manual copying misses pages in long files.
